Whatever you want to call it – ethics, values, beliefs or a viewpoint – I simply see it as doing my best and that is the key philosophy for us at View Truck & Van.

Having worked in the commercial vehicle industry for the last 35 years, I have seen pretty much everything. I have led, been led and turned my hand to almost everything. You name it, I’ve probably had a go! I have seen the ruthless, egotistical, rude and arrogant. In fact, I was that person in the 80s, but quickly learnt that being kind and supportive pays back. I soon discovered that going that extra mile paid me back tenfold with personal recommendations, repeat customers and far less stress. This afforded me more time to look after people. So, being professional and helpful creates more time. Strange that isn’t it?

Later on in life, this still comes back and supports me in all sorts of different ways. Imagine nearly 20 years ago being recommended to a new fledgling business with two very focused and driven young people about to go out and conquer the world and having to slow them down a fraction and give them best advice. This weekend we were invited to their leaving do. They have sold up, bought a yacht and are going to sail around the world. What an adventure!

I have supported sales people who still today call me for support and in return end up pointing me in the right direction for business.

We all have targets and plans to achieve. We all have stresses and pressures that we must deal with. But stop, breathe, smile and take some time to help somebody else; it will pay you back and now today it pays me back in spades. I deal with some of the best people in the country, who are absolutely awesome and I look forward to doing the same for many years to come.
